Helga Prichard studied art and modern dance for pleasure while earning a bachelor’s degree in Natural Science from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. In art the study of shape, color and form and in dance the use of time, space and energy sharpened her awareness of the beauty surrounding us. A realistic landscape painter at first, she now more and more lets her impressions govern the presentation of the subject matter.
During the past 30 years, while teaching modern dance at Union College and at the Schenectady County Community College and raising a family, she studied with local art teachers including Lora Lee Jekkals, Jane Kirstel, Edgar Bazell and Sal Cascio. For the last seven years, she attended workshops by Carol Barnes, Louise Cadillac, Marilyn Hughrey Phillis, Pat Dews and Mary Todd Beam at Greenville, NY. At present she studies with Karen Rosasco and Betsy Apgar Smith.
