Artist’s Statement

My interest in local history, architecture, people, and conservation inspires and motivates my work.  Much of my teaching and work contributes to the fund raising efforts of  local organizations, such as the Historic Albany Foundation, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, Pine Hollow Arboretum, Friends of the Pine Bush, the Friends of the Normanskill Farm, and numerous local Arts organizations.

My teaching is my main impetus to paint, pushing me to constantly examine and explain the formal and technical problems of painting and design.  I am also passionate about painting and drawing from the live model and am an active member of the Riverfront Artists which conducts weekly modeling sessions.
